NEW WORKSHOP!
Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Comic Book Writers Club:

When:  The first and third Saturday of the month.

What: This twice monthly group is a read and critique club of writers who want to work on their projects in a professionally-led but supportive environment.
Students will get to read 5-10 pages of their material every other class and will have input and feedback from the group to help them.
There will be an emphasis on clear communication and on powerful storytelling while playing against a fantastical backdrop.
Whether students are working on a fantasy novel or a sci-fi screenplay or a new digital comic book, this is the writers group for them. Come in and get notes on your work as you develop it in a group of fellow writers with a taste for sci-fi, fantasy and the world of graphic novels.
1st and 3rd Saturdays

Saturday Screenwriter’s Read and Critique

When: Ongoing – Saturdays from 3-5

Where: The Digital Gym – Central San Diego

Who: Open to all levels! Must be dedicated and supportive.

What: $60/flat fee per month

When: Thursdays from 10-12

Where: Private Home in Encinitas. Address will be given to group members.

Who: Open to all level and all genres! Must be dedicated and supportive.

The Memoir Club at SDWI at Liberty Station

Meets First Saturday of the Month

What is it: A fun, interactive read and critique group geared to helping writers complete their memoirs to the best of their ability. The group will focus on Structure for Memoir, a 15 point plotting system designed to assist writers in professionally crafting the tightest and most intriguing story possible.
Also covered: Scene Creation, Hot dialogue tools, When and What to Cut, Finding voice and theme, Crafting the hook and Marketing your Memoir.
When is it? First Saturday of the month at SDWI from 10-2 (once a month). Come to one or come every month!
Why, why, why? Because you want to create (or take) raw memoir material and learn how to make it a compelling, marketable, page turner. Because you want the process to be fun, healing, supportive, and inspirational.

Thursday Night Read and Critique
Ready to get published
with Carlos at SDWI from 7-9 pm (Ongoing)
Join Carlos de los Rios every Thursday night from 7 – 9 pm starting March 7th, for a read and critique for aspiring or accomplished screenwriters. Classes will have no more than 10 members. Students will get to read up to 10 pages of the script they are working on before their peers every other week. Five students max read per week.
Fees noted above are due monthly, and participants must pay regularly in order to maintain their place in this weekly workshop.
